A story of great woman who fulfilled her dreams with her feet

A talented Kathiawar embroidery artist overcame physical challenges to excel in her craft. She lived in Motiwadi village, Bhavnagar, Gujarat. She made many things using bright colors, like bedcovers, cushions, etc. She was good at Kathiawar embroidery,  hich needs a lot of skill. She was born into a farmer’s family and faced many challenges; she was physically challenged, and her hands were hanging loose by her sides so she could not use her hands like other children. Her mother and grandmother encouraged her a lot to focus on Kathiawar embroidery thus she decided to develop a passion in this art. They taught her to create many beautiful patterns using her feet. It was not an easy task, but she took it as a challenge, and with determination, she learned the art. Her parents also encouraged her to do her work with her feet, such as eating, combing her hair, etc. Threading a needle was hard, but she did not give up and became an expert at a young age. Her brother and sister also helped her. She learned many styles from outside of Gujarat, like Kachhi, Kashmiri, etc. Embroidery became a way to express herself, and she made a few for her family and friends. They were amazed by her talent; they talked about this design to others, the village people. Soon her talent reached the government office through the village people in Surat. They were impressed by her work; they displayed some samples of her embroidery at a state exhibition, and people bought her embroidery art. She also participated at the national level; she received many awards and honors, not just for her art but also for her willpower and creativity skills. Once she was a farmer’s daughter facing a tough challenge and she got President’s medal she felt that challenges can be a victory with focus hard work positivity and never giving up.
